Seattle, The City of Pigs

I've spent the last two days in central Seattle.
And I've spotted a lot of pigs. There's 100 to be exact - they will eventually be auctioned off to raise money. They're cute huh?

Managed to find an old Death Cab For Cutie CD - from 1998. Guess that's cause the band is from here....yes Larissa, I'll burn it for you :)

Hmm, I May Have Been Wrong

Ok, so I know I said San Francisco is my favourite city, but I'm starting to reconsider the statement, after going to the Experience Music Project today.

This place is amazing. There's a whole section devoted to the development of hip hop music, full of rare records, costumes worn by Run DMC, old street posters advertising block parties that Grand Master Flash was playing at - and they're all hand drawn! Something funny was that girls were always allowed into the gigs for a less than guys.

Then there's a room where you can watch and listen to artists talk about different types of music (pre-recorded). It covers SO many genres - could easily take a day off just to listen to all these people.

And the best bit, is the Jimi Hendrix section. Hendrix was actually from Seattle and there's the largest collection of his memoriabilia here. There was heaps of letters he'd written back to his Dad, when he had just started out. They had napkins and hotel paper Hendrix had written lyrics on, as well as his drawings, clothes and artwork as a kid.

After that, we went to the Science Fiction Museum. This is whats featured in the pic. Pity we couldn't take any photos at either place. But here, there were costumes from Star Trek, Wizard of Oz, Batman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, amongst a lot more.

Overall - a very good day!

Space Needle

This is a major tourist attraction.
But there's not much to it.
Go up to the top and there's an observation deck. Check out a view of the city and that's it.

The city is pretty though :)

New City - New Cousins

These cousins live in Seattle - Daniel and Emily.

We bought them this kangaroo from National Geographic.
They dressed him up, then tied him down and sang "Tie Me Kangaroo Down" - they're cute kids.

Not so great at bowling though. I scored 120.
Don't care that they're only 10 and 11, I still won.

My Uncle Is A Thrillseeker

Here's a pic of me on my uncle's motorbike.
I'm too scared to go for a ride with him.

Just sitting on it was pretty scary, I nearly burnt my bare leg on the exhaust. Motorbikes - crazy.

I Made It To Seattle!

After a day of rest, it was time to explore the city. To the right is a pic of sort of the city centre - its called Pioneer Square. Pretty huh?

Then we explored the underground city. Pretty much, back in 1889, Seattle burnt down, and cause of sewerage problems - the city was re-built, but an entire level higher. So now's there's this whole underground city.
